Update on a man gone stupid...

So I got my car back today.. after 942.00! OUCH.. I should have paid the 30 bux for the new crank shaft gear!

Well here is what has happened so far today. They say it happens in threes right?I think they (whomever they maybe) are right or really close. I am on the way to pick up my car with some mixed emotions... Knowing I have to give up every bit of money I have scrapped together to try and save for a 6 speed, I wasn’t excited about that. I was excited how ever to hear that the car had been tuned. Come to find out it was only 300 whp though. None the less still going to be a fun ride until I get the 35r installed on it. If I ever get it installed. So as you can see to the left the picture of my demise!

Again I was on my way back from picking up my car and I get a call from the guy that I sold my old Access port V1 too. I had paid about 1200 for all the bells and whistles for the access port and street tuner and I sold it all for 200 bux. Plus I sent him my ecu just in case! Well when he called he told me that cobb had fixed his ecu (long story short the ap v1 deleted his ecu) for only the low low price of 80 bux! Hmm there product deleted an ecu programming.. hmm and you have to pay to get it fixed. Well I won’t ever purchase from them again.. But the person I am I said ok man... I will send you your money back.. but you will have to wait on it as I just paid 942.00 to my mechanic.. He said he would wait for it.

Ok.. I finally get home with the car and check the Nasioc private mail. GUESS WHAT! I have an email from the guy I sold my invidea header too.... (at least I thought it was invidea) He says " Hey, I don’t think the manifold you sent me is an Invidia, Im starting to think its just an Ebay manifold..." Uhh ohhh.. So I proceeded to explain to him. I said "I traded for it.. but i dont expect you to take a loss. I looked at the invidea and I didn’t see that big a difference. I just thought it was a different version. I looked at the ebay one.. It doesn’t match that either. so I took for granted that it was invidea.. and posted the pix for everyone to see. I am sorry." and that I would take care of it.. and do whatever he wanted. I for sure would not cheat him out of money. So I guess we will see what happens. None the less god bless all you folks and I hope your day goes well. Next up! A good buddy of mine sent some pics of his killer Forester... WITH A 35R! Wahoo... Stay tuned.. Mod in peace... not pieces.

Update on my not so tune.. Quick someone call a dentist!

Well looks like I have once again been the victim of idosism. (I know it’s not a word) Yes I am an idiot! My mechanic called me this morning and told me what happened to the car. He took off the casing from around the timing gears and found the middle gear that is attached to the crankshaft, has a chipped tooth. Quick someone call a dentist! Doh... That won’t work. There was also another tooth cracked. Apparently when I took the gear off the old engine I pried it with a screwdriver and cracked the gear. So people people people... be very careful if you are going to reuse the crank gear! Or better yet don’t reuse it. Get another one for 30 bux. Could have been a whole lot worse if I was at WOT when it broke. That would have been a nightmare. Thanks Keenan. You the man! Brad from Perry Subaru is now ordering a gear next day air so I can try and not lose to much time without my car. As it sets right now I will have to drive the other vehicle to my new job on Tuesday and the wife won’t be able to work for a while until the WRX is done.
Have a wonderful day folks!

Tint your gauges..Fixes scratches or just looks nice!

Anything you do from this site is at your own risk and I have no responsibility of how it comes out or anything else that happens... Even if your grandma slips on the soap and breaks her neck! Not my fault. Now that we have gotten that out of the way.

So you are tired of the scratches on your gauges.
Well get you some window tint and lets get started!
If you look at the gauge below it has a crack. Its also one of the lower cost defi clear amber gauges. I thought I was getting the light up amber and black look gauges. None the less I paid a good price.. Now back to the gauges.

Basicly its real simple. Just get a spray bottle and put a small amount of soap and fill with water. Like some dishwashing soap. About a quarter teaspoon or so per bottle of water. Or you can just go get a kit for installing tinted windows that has the spray with it. So after you get your mixture you will need to get the tint somewhat sized. Cut it close to what you will need. This makes it easier when you are cutting off the excess.

After cutting the tint to your size now take two peices of tape (fairly small) and put one on each side of the tint. Try to keep them from getting pasted together. Then spray the whole thing. The gauge face as well. It won't hurt to drench it good. Now take the pieces of tape and split the tint apart from its protective layer. Throw out the white piece. Take the dark layer and place it on the gauge sticky side to the gauge. Now take an old credit card or something and sqeeze out the layer of soap and water you sprayed on. Make sure there are no bumps, trash, or air bubles in between the layer of tint and the gauge. Then take a razor blade. (as long as you are allowed to have sharp objects :-) and cut off most of the excess. Then squeegy the tint on the gauge again. I usually spray the tint every time I do this to keep from scratching it. It won't hurt just don't get crazy and get it into the gauge. I use an exacto knife which is a small razor blade to be sure and make it a bit easier when cutting the edges. After you squeegy all excess debris and air bubbles from the tint, you can make sure the tint is stable and doesn't move.
Then cut the remainder of the tint away from the gauge. I usually slant the knife with the edge of the gauge (this depends on the gauge)and carefully cut as close as possible to the edge. Some of you with other types of gauges may have it easier and can cut into the edge where the gauge face meets the silver part. Don't know how to explain it. I think you get the idea...

Finished product should look like this.

Have fun and mod in peace!

uuuugg... was hoping for a tune and got a bomb dropped on me...

I hate this has to be my first real posting.. But here we go...

So the car has been sitting for 4 years right. The engine I purchased from Ron at Raw performance (AXIS)was sitting for 2 years. I finally get the engine in (took me 3 months with all the missing parts and such) I am dying to drive it! So I finally get to drive it and...... My mechanic has to set it with 0 boost so I can break it in. :-( That’s no so fun. Especially since the clutch I have is a triple plate and is a pain in the neck to drive. You either have to be real good at a slow engagement or you have to drop the clutch. I currently have a 5 speed so dropping the clutch is not really an option. (They call these 5 speeds glass boxes.. go figure) The mechanic I take it to keeps on begging me to get rid of the clutch. I just can’t do it right now.. Long story short on the clutch it between it and the shaved crank I have it makes the engine rev insanely quick. This makes it hard to set the idler. We actually had to cut off the idler and now I have to make sure the engine is warmed up with my foot!

Enough about the clutch. Back to the problem currently at hand. So I go the other day to take my car to get it tuned. I get there little before 2:00pm when I THOUGHT my appointment was.. I was soooooo anxious about getting it tuned and actually being able to put my foot in it a little. Well ok... a whole stinking bunch!!! I walk up and (we will call him Keith just for security sake)Keith says hey.. I say hey man.. you read! He says, I was at 9:30 when your appointment was.. I was soooooo crushed.. I said NOOOO man.. I was supposed to be here 2pm I wrote it down and all!! He just looked at me perplexed. I know he didn’t believe me.. but I was sure I was right. I think I must have gotten it mixed up with a tire appointment I had the previous Tuesday. So none the less it’s my fault. I took off all miffed. Even though it was my own fault I was just so disappointed. After everything else that has happened lately in my life it was just another let down. But little later on I was ok.. Figured it was just something that was supposed to happen. So I call back Keith and make another appointment. In hopes that I can get it finished before I start my new job on Tuesday the following week. Been out of a job for a few months. So I really need this to go smoothly. Now. Keith states that he will try and work me in. I come back and drop it off the next morning. I am a little worried to call him later on because I don’t want to aggravate him. So I drop by after the time when he should be done and gone. He is now working on another race car sitting in the bay getting ready to put it on the dyno. Man I am excited now! Thinking I he has mine done and I am good to go.. I am just waiting for him to say, Hey man.. Your machine is extraordinary.. You got 500 hp on that sucker! But NOT! I ask him and he says, yeah I got it up here after some problems.. But it only went to like 200whp. BUMMER! Worse than stock. Then he said all the sudden it went dead. OH NO! I am absolutely crushed! I feel like puking... So I tell him will get back with him later. Calling him the next day offering my help for anything he needs. He says I will call you when I get to it. I call him back again late that afternoon and he says. Man I have spent 6 hours working on your electrical system to make sure it wasn’t that. I also have taken your AEM system out and tried mine that I know that works. Keith says, I have had something like this before and it was the AEM box gone bad. OUCH... Then he says, I will have to check the cam gears to make sure there isn’t a tooth missing because I cannot find anything else wrong. I said nah man... It was running fine when I brought it in. He says well it’s not running now. Sometimes these things happen he says. I think hmm I don’t get it. I want to take a sledge hammer to my baby at this point. Its killing me.. So that’s where we leave it. I let him go and say let me know. He says, ok if you need to you can come and get it and do the work yourself (not an option at this point me having to start a job and need new clothes etc.). I said, nah man.. Go ahead just let me know..

I guess we will see what happens.

Intro...

Hi ya everybody! Just to start off and let everyone know, I am not a writer at all! I will try best to make everything as clear as possible. I am going to try and make this educational as well as entertaining. I will be posting a little of my life and the joy I have had in modding and trying to keep up with my Subaru WRX. Wonderful car and a joy to drive. Its like surfing on the pavment! Awesome stuff.

I may go back and forth in time with some of the purchases and mods I have done as the car has been sitting for 4 years. Let me know if something does not make sense. My wife says I need a filter between my mouth and my brain. LOL. I am hoping writing it down on paper so to speak will keep some of that spewage to a minimum.

I am not going to allow comments just yet. When I do allow comments they will be filtered. I will have people email me then I will post them up. I just dont want anything popping up that people would not like and or that I would not like.

Thanks for reading!

Bon
